Description
Drachme 280/278, Tarent (?). 3.05 g. 15.9 mm. Kopf der Athena. Rv. Ähre, links Monogramm, rechts Keule. Johnston, Metapont III, S. 17-18. Rutter, HN 2680 (incert). Selten. Sehr schön. Feine Patina.
Die Hintergründe dieser Prägung sind noch nicht vollends geklärt. Das Monogramm im Revers (LK) wird als Hinweis auf die Lukani als Prägeherrn gesehen. Äußerer Anlass waren wohl die Aktivitäten des Pyrrhos.
